Zara Partners with Ghanaian Artist Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe for Accra-Inspired Collection
July 30, 2025

Global fashion leader Zara has launched a vibrant new men’s capsule collection in collaboration with Ghanaian painter Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe, drawing visual and cultural inspiration from the artist’s birthplace, Accra. This dynamic project was made possible with the support of Seminal Artist Group, which played a key role in facilitating the partnership.
The collection merges fine art with fashion in an expressive, deeply personal way. Each garment echoes the tones, textures, and emotions of Quaicoe’s portraiture, where bold, color-rich faces stare out against stark, often monochrome backgrounds. His paintings explore identity, Black empowerment, and the beauty of cultural self-expression, and those same values are stitched into this ready-to-wear line

For fans of contemporary African art, the Zara x Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe collection is a wearable celebration. Earthy tones, burnt sienna, olive green, rust, ochre, dance alongside flashes of crimson and cobalt, recalling the artist’s signature palette. The result is a collection that feels tactile and expressive, rooted in Accra’s vibrant rhythms.
Otis, who now lives and works in Portland, Oregon, came up through Accra’s Ghanatta College of Art and Design. His style evolved from early inspirations like hand-painted Ghanaian movie posters, a tradition of storytelling through bold imagery and layered color that continues to inform his work today.
This is the first time Quaicoe has translated his fine art into fashion, and the results are striking: embroidered cotton trousers, jacquard cardigans, floral Bermuda shorts, oversized knits, and accessories including sandals, clogs, and a bandana. Standout pieces include a short-sleeved tee screen-printed with one of his portrait works and a bomber jacket rendered in dusky hues.

“I love fashion because it’s a way of expressing oneself, it brings out the character of who you are,” Quaicoe said. “It’s been my dream to collaborate with a fashion brand. Now, people can wear the art, feel it on their skin.”
The partnership also marks another step in Zara’s commitment to cross-disciplinary creativity, following previous artist-led capsules. For Quaicoe, it’s a new canvas, and for wearers, it’s a chance to embody the energy of Accra with every thread.
The collection is now available on Zara’s global e-commerce platform and in select stores worldwide.
